Indian Shooters Shine Bright At The Asian Shooting Championships 2019

Shooting sensation Manu Bhaker bagged a gold medal in women’s 10m air pistol event in the 14th Asian Championship.

The opening day of the championship also witnessed rifleman Deepak Kumar clinch a bronze medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event. Kumar shot 227.8 in the eight-man final and finished third, securing the country’s 10th Olympic quota in shooting. 

The two other shooters in the fray were Kiran Ankush Jadhav and Yash Vardhan. Jadhav finished 14th whereas Vardhan for the 30th position.

Bhaker shot 244.3 to secure the top prize in their event. The 17-year -old sensation had already booked her place in the Tokyo Olympics at the Munich World Cup in May.

Yashawini Singh Deshwal earned the 6th position in the final while Annu Raj Singh finished at the 20th place.

With a total of 1731, the trio clinched the team bronze. The first two positions went to Korea and China, respectively.

Maximum 2 Olympic quotas can be earned by a country per event.

The tournament is the final opportunity for shooters to book a spot for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
