Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian cricket team, is setting new records by continuously winning. On this Sunday, India defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in their first day-night Test that ended in Kolkata. Indian pacers played a big role in this victory of Team India. Under Ishant Sharma, he did not allow Bangladesh to play even 72 overs including both innings. Virat Kohli hit a century for India in this match.
After this victory, Kohli recalled Team India captained by BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly. Kohli said that Ganguly had taught the team to win abroad. Kohli’s statement was not at all liked by veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar has reacted strongly to this.
After the match, Gavaskar retaliated by saying that Team India has been winning the Test ever since Kohli was not even born.
Later Gavaskar said,
The Indian Captain (Kohli) said that it (fighting abroad, winning) started in 2000 with Dada (Ganguly) ‘s team. I know that Dada is the President of BCCI, so maybe Kohli wants to talk good about him. But India was also winning in the 70s and 80s. He was not even born then. Many people still think that cricket only started in 2000. But the Indian team also won abroad in the 70s. The Indian team also won overseas in 1986. India also drew a series abroad.
It still remains unseen whether Kohli or Ganguly revert back on Gavaskar’s statement. If Sunil Gavaskar gets any response from Kohli or Ganguly, it will likely be an uninvited dispute. And if there is such a dispute, then there is a possibility of it having a wrong effect on the team’s Morals.
