Customized Indoor Workout Routines To Keep Team India In Shape

In order to make sure that they stay in perfect shape during self-quarantine, the members of the Indian cricket team have been given customized workout routines. According to the IANS report, the routines have been handed to players by strength and conditioning coach Nick Webb, who was in consultation with Nitin Patel (physio).

Customized routine to meet the demands of each player

In order to meet their demands, the players will have to follow the routine handed to them.

Speaking to IANS, a source in the team management said “The routines have been created keeping in mind the demands of the players. So, for example, a bowler has been given exercises that work to make his core and lower body strength. Similarly, a batsman has been given exercises which also work on his shoulders and wrists.”

The players will keep Webb and Patel updated about their progress

The source said “All the players, irrespective of whether they play red-ball cricket or white-ball cricket or all formats have been given fitness routines which they are to follow and give updates to Webb and Patel from time to time.”

The routines have been designed according to the players’ workout patterns

The source further added “So, for example, someone like a Kohli loves to train with weights as well. So, his routine would have weights involved like the clean and jerk and deadlifts and other exercises. While another player might be more comfortable doing free-hand exercises, so in that case.”

On Tuesday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and announced a 21-day lockdown in the country as a measure to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak. As of now, the fate of IPL 2020 seems unclear. However, BCCI believes that it can still manage to pull off the event even if it begins in the first week of May.
