Student Union Claims JNU Students Brutally Attacked BY CRPF and Police

Thousands of Jawaharlal Nehru University students made their way to the Parliament, carrying placards and chanting slogans, on the first day of the Winter Session.

The students are demanding a complete rollback of the hostel fee hike.

Section 144 has been imposed near the parliament whereas a heavy contingent of the police force was deployed outside JNU in order to keep the situation under control. The protesting students broke the barricades despite the presence of dozens of police personnel.

The students have been protesting against the increase in hostel fees from the past three weeks. The protests, which have been taking place inside the administration block, continued even though a rollback was announced by the university last Wednesday.

The students’ union said that the march aims at saving public education and appealing to the Members of Parliament for taking up the cause.

According to the students’ body, the march is a “way to appeal to lawmakers to fight on our behalf inside the floor of the house”.
