Coronavirus Crisis: 6 Cricketers Who Donated Generously For A Noble Cause

As the entire world struggles with the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, we keep hearing stories about good samaritans who have stepped up and done their bit to support the fight against this deadly disease.

A number of eminent names from the world of cricket have made generous donations towards the noble cause.

1. Ajinkya Rahane

Team India’s middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane donated Rs. 10 lakh towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support the fight against coronavirus outbreak.

2. Sachin Tendulkar

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar pledged Rs. 50 lakh for the noble cause. Half of the amount went to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund while the other half was donated to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

3. Gautam Gambhir

Former cricketer and politician Gautam Gambhir pledged Rs 1 crore out of his MP LAD fund to help fight the outbreak. He also donated his one month’s salary to the Central Relief Fund. 

4. Richa Ghosh

The 16-year-old all-rounder has pledged Rs. 1 lakh to the Bengal Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. She said “When everybody is fighting COVID-19 and the chief minister has appealed for a united battle against it, I thought of contributing a bit as a responsible citizen of the country.”

5. Suresh Raina

Ace cricketer Suresh Raina made a generous contribution of Rs.52 lakh. While 31 lakh was given to the PM-CARES fund, Rs. 21 lakh went to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. 

6. Yusuf and Irfan Pathan

This brother duo donated 4,000 masks to those in need. The masks were distributed to the Vadodara health department.
