People Who Do Not Eat Fruits And Vegetables Are More Likely To Suffer From Anxiety!

What you choose to eat can be connected directly to how anxious you feel.

As per a recent study, people who do not consume enough fruits and vegetables can be more susceptible to bouts of anxiety in comparison to people who eat an adequate amount of fruits and veggies on a regular basis.

A lot of factors affect mental health, such as sleep, physical activity, and diet. If you do not pay enough attention to any of these factors, your health may suffer.

The study, which can be found in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, discovered that people who consume less than 3 vegetables and fruits per day are at least 24 percent more likely of being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

Researchers think the reason behind this is the fact that in the absence of healthy food items in our diet, the increase in body fat may lead to inflammation. This, in turn, can cause anxiety disorder.

The data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging was analysed by the research team conducting the study. It included the details of around 26,991 male and female subjects aged between 45 and 85.

The researchers concluded that the likelihood of getting an anxiety disorder increases by 70 percent as the body fat levels increase by more than 36 percent. They also added that women were more susceptible than men.

The study also emphasized that other than the body composition, an anxiety disorder may also affect people on the basis of their marital status, gender, income and health issues. It also said that one in nine women may be affected by this disorder whereas this ratio is one in fifteen in the case of men.

People have finally begun to understand the value of a healthy and balanced diet. Staying healthy mentally as well as physically is of utmost importance in order to live our life to the fullest.

Other than anxiety disorder, an unhealthy diet may also lead to mood swings. This may happen specifically around winter times, and in places that receive less sunlight.

Post-traumatic stress disorder, OCD, social phobia and panic attacks are a few examples of anxiety disorders.
